2023 – 2024 Officers
Marjolyn Varano – President
Marjolyn has worked in various sectors of the insurance industry for over 10 years and is currently part of PLUS/Towerstone, Inc. working with Robby Moore to broker Professional Lines of insurance. She is grateful to be the guardian to cats Atlas and Juno. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Drawing & Painting and enjoys traveling as much and as far as possible, pretending she can cook, and meeting/learning about all kinds of animals. She is the proud recipient of AAIP’s 2020-2021 Insurance Professional of the Year Award.
Meghan Welte – President-Elect
Meghan Welte entered the insurance industry working for The Littleton Group in the claims office when she was just 20 years old. From Littleton she moved to Service Lloyds Insurance Company and has been there for just over 22 years. In her time at Service Lloyds, she has worn many hats, most recent is Claims Manager. She works closely with vendors and the internal IT department, ensuring claims projects and integrations go off without a hitch. She is mom to Maggie, a 23-year-old attending Texas State, and Bella the dog. In her down time, she and husband Jeff are typically found camping, at music festivals, or anywhere around water.
Jared Holder – Vice President
Jared Holder of Imperial PFS is a proud and active member of AAIP. He also serves the Membership Services Committee for the Texas Surplus Lines Association and the Board of Directors for the Independent Insurance Agents of Austin. He has previously served on the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of King County’s Board of Directors. Jared attended the University of North Texas where he graduated from the College of Business with a focus in Finance. In his spare time, Jared enjoys being outdoors, staying active, and meeting new people.
Beth Reese – Treasurer
Beth has been in the insurance industry for longer than she cares to admit. She has spent almost equal time on the broker side as the carrier side and has experience in employee benefits, professional liability and Medicare. She is a Sr. Territory Manager at Texas Mutual Insurance and works with Agents in the Dallas area half of her time with the other half spent on infrastructure projects that support agency operations around the state. She has been in Austin since 1981 and enjoys volunteering with the Austin Rodeo, Central Health and the American Heart Association.
Natalie Brian – Recording Secretary
Natalie Brian is a Client Service Representative at Risk Pros, Inc. and has been in the insurance industry for 2 years. Starting as an unlicensed Customer Service Representative at Insurance Zebra, Inc. (The Zebra), she has obtained a P&C license, and is working towards her CISR designation. Natalie jumped headfirst into a new job and a new state in 2021 and hasn’t looked back. She enjoys art, spending time with her friends, and discovering the endless food and activities Texas has to offer. She is grateful for the opportunities and knowledge AAIP brings, as well as the camaraderie between fellow professionals.
Jessica Hahn – Director/ Immediate Past President
Jessica Hahn is an underwriter/broker for XPT Specialty in Austin, TX. In addition to her service with AAIP, she also serves on the Education Committee for WSIA and is on the Regulatory Liaison Committee for TSLA. She has over 15 years’ experience in the insurance industry, specializing in transportation. She attended college at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, TX where she played soccer for the Lady Rams. She enjoys fishing and kayaking at the coast.
Veronica Ramirez – Director/ Treasurer
Veronica Ramirez has been part of the Ed Weeren Insurance Agency and the insurance industry for the last 26 years. She was transferred from personal lines department to the commercial lines department 7 years ago and very much enjoys servicing her commercial clients. She also enjoys volunteering and sitting on the board of Applied Systems local chapter. Veronica also serves in the board of her church community. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family especially her 16 year old daughter Emma and 12 year old son Isaac.
Shelby Howe – Director/ Newsletter
Shelby Howe is Vice President of Risk Pros, Inc. and has been a member of the Austin Association of Insurance Professionals (AAIP) since 2022. Shelby was born and raised in Louisiana and relocated to Texas with her husband, Brandon and their two dogs. They enjoy exploring new areas, rediscovering old ones, and forging their own path wherever life may take them.
Robby Moore – Associate Director
Robby has been in the insurance industry for 11 years and all of it has been spent in Professional and Management Lines. He is a Wholesale Broker with Professional Lines Underwriting Specialists (PLUS, Inc.). Robby has been married for 15 years to Stephanie and has an 12 year old son named Trey, a 10 year old daughter named Maddy and a 7 year old beagle/terrier mix named Timmy! Robby graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in Business and a focus in Management. He enjoys mountain biking, cooking and collecting vinyl records. To date he currently has over 2000 records in his collection.
